September 08, 2010 – Dramatic Play is sustained pretent play in which one child acts out a role by imitating movements and by using gestures and, sometimes props. A child imitates remembered events or sustained actions for example, bathing dolls, taking the dolls in a carage for a walk, and dressing up in grown-up clothes to go to work. In dramatic play, children identify with events they remember, imitating each act as closely as possible. (Empowing Children, D. Shipley)
