Dear Coach,
My centre is preparing for the Reaccreditation process and we are unsure of what our first step should be. Can you help?
Your first step would be to contact your ARCQE coach and coordinate a contract so they can meet with your team and review the Re-accredidation self study guide and develop a “Go Forward Plan” with your agency. ARCQE can support your centre with all steps of the Re-accredidation process including the following: Checklists, revised QEP, and the Annual Standards Report.
Additionally ARCQE has an array of services that come with detailed evidence-based reports reinforcing how programs exemplify the accreditation standards in practice. For further information on services relating to the three rating areas of accreditation:
- 60% Interactions & Daily Planned Experiences
- 25% Administration
- 15% Environment
Be sure to contact your ARCQE Coach!
Dear Coach,
Our team has been having difficulty with programming based on children’s interests. Does ARCQE have any resources that could help?
ARCQE does have three workshops that could assist your team:
1. Emergent Curriculum
2. Reflective Program Planning
3. Child’s Play
To coordinate times and dates for any of these workshops – go to our website www.arcqe.ca and click on the header “Professional Development” and follow the steps for workshops.
Your team may also want to contract frontline mentor support to help with strategies that can assist with implementing theory from workshops into practice during a large group planning session. This could occur at an evening staff meeting or during scheduled program planning time during the day.
Dear Coach,
I am the director of a school age program. Our team is preparing for the School Age Accreditation. Does ARCQE currently have services available to OOSC programs?
1. Your first step would be to contact the ARCQE office at (780) 421-4930 or 1-866-429-4930 for those outside of the Edmonton region and find out contact information regarding the child care coach for your area.
2. Coaches then set up a Pre-Service Orientation meeting to review the steps of the Accreditation process with programs and to develop a “Go Forward Plan” outlining types of support available. ARCQE is able to assist with all aspects of the Accreditation process - completion of checklists, development of your QEP and development of your Portfolio.
3. ARCQE also has a variety of resources your centre may want to purchase and/or additional services programs may wish to contract. Some of these include:
a. A School Age Portfolio Resource Kit,
b. School Age policy packages,
c. Resource Access Pass Cards and
d. Professional Passports.
e. Workshops focused specifically on School Age care.
f. Caregiver Interaction Scale (CIS) Service (supporting 60% rating on Interactions)
g. Valuing Cultural Diversity: reflections on practice (supporting 60% rating on interactions)
h. Reviewing Daily Planned Experiences (supporting 60% rating on interactions)
i. Measuring Leadership & Administration (supporting 25% rating on Administration)
